1. Keep your fountain running

Keeping your fountain running is one of the easiest maintenance tasks you can do to keep your fountain in great condition. Keeping the fountain running will keep the water moving and reduce the chances of any buildup. It will also help to extend the life of your fountain pump the less frequently you turn it on and off. However, it isn’t necessary to run your fountain 24/7. Fountains that run all the time can be more susceptible to water loss (unless an auto-fill unit is installed), so keep that in mind.

2. Inspect pump, mechanical parts and power supply

Every few weeks inspect the working parts of the fountain. Look for buildup in the pump and clear it out. Check the pump hoses to make sure there aren’t any cracks forming. Also, check the pump power cord for any cracks or fraying. If there is any wear on the pump hoses or power cord, they should be replaced. If necessary, clean the mechanical parts of your fountain pump, too.

3. Clean the fountain surface

Stone fountains are beautiful, but mineral buildup and other debris can make the fountain will look dirty. When you notice debris building up on the surface of the fountain, take a soft cloth and wipe it down with a mild detergent. For more stubborn spots, you can use a toothbrush or other type of brush to scrub a little harder and remove the spot.

With a few simple tasks, you can keep your fountain looking beautiful and working properly all year long.
